Different Brains, Different Learners: Weaknesses in Reading May Be Tied to Nonverbal Learning Strengths

Dr Jeffrey Gilger will explain a model of neurological variation that leads to natural variation in cognitive profiles.  Past data on the subject of a link between dyslexia and spatial skills will be summarized, and a "sensitive period" model of how/why children with dyslexia may have a strength in learning nonverbal skills at certain ages will be presented.  Jeff will also touch upon genetics (as they are relevant to how the brain develops) and present some preliminary data from our ongoing study.  You can find more information on current UC research studies here.  Feel free to contact Dr Gilger with any questions.
